Dr. Youssefi has an exciting new program to announce! In October he will be hosting a workshop designed for parents of children on the Autism spectrum. The focus of the workshop will be to train parents to be able to provide home-based sensory and motor therapy for their children. The two day workshop will provide parents with both the background to enable them to work with their children in any setting, and with functional sensory and motor activities that they can do on their own with their children.
The workshop will feature Ms. Bobbi Wade, CCC-SLP, a speech pathologist who specializes in sensory integration and its relation to language development. Also featured will be Ms. Kelly Dorfman, MS, LN, LD, a nutritional consultant who specializes in working with children with development delays.
The workshop is scheduled for:
Friday, October 10, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and
Saturday, October 11, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The cost of the workshop will be $200.00 for registration before September 1, 2008. For registration after September 1, 2008 the cost is $220.00.
The schedule of events for each workshop day will become available as the event draws nearer, but the topics addressed will include “Red flags of neuromuscular development,” “Home-based SMI exercises,” “A Speech and language home program,” and “The importance of nutrition.” If you are interested in more information on the workshop, please contact Arousha Shahin, GMS Program Director:
