History of the SMI Program

GMS was founded by Dr. Parviz Youssefi in Springfield, Virginia in 1980. Dr Youssefi received his Bachelor of Science degree in physical education and natural sciences from University of Tehran.

later received a Masters degree in Motor Perceptual Diagnosis and Treatment and earned his Doctoral degree from George Washington University in Higher Education, specializing in Sensory-Motor Training. Dr. Youssefi pioneered Sensory-Motor Integration in the GMS facility in 1981, where he would train special needs children. In 1986 he established a revolutionary and contemporary state of the art educational facility.
